Urology Prostate Diagnostics Masterclass

Aim
To conduct a two-day teaching course for practitioners wishing to learn the fundamentals of evaluating prostate MRI and the foundations of conducting transperineal, targeted and systematic prostate biopsy.
Objectives - Prostate MRI
To learn the basics of how an MRI for prostate cancer diagnosis is conducted and for which indications.
To learn how to interpret a prostate MRI report and correlate the report findings to the actual images in order to identify areas of suspicion.
To review prostate MRI cases with supervision and correlate findings to the radiology report and pathological findings.
To be able to contour lesions appropriately and accurately on prostate diagrams in a structured format.
To understand the principles of and apply the Likert and PIRADS scoring systems in real cases.
Objectives - Prostate Biopsy
To understand the fundamental differences between transrectal and transperineal biopsies.
To learn and apply local anaesthetic transperineal biopsy techniques
To undergo hands-on training using ultrasound and transperineal grid and stepper, as well as freehand transperineal devices.
To apply the practice of visual estimation (cognitive) targeted transperineal biopsy using grid/precisionpoint, and stepper, as well as freehand techniques.
To learn about, and for those with an interest, to have hands-on training for image-fusion transperineal biopsy.
Course Content - Prostate MRI
Lectures with didactic teaching on how to deliver a one or two stage RAPID diagnostic pathway, MRI principles, conduct and reporting.
MRI reviews at PACS (or equivalent) stations where attendees will look at MRI scans and be able to evaluate them with or without a radiology report. The cases will then be reviewed with the entire group by expert radiologist faculty for confirmation of findings.
Course Content - Prostate Biopsy
Lectures with didactic teaching from urology, radiology, and nursing experts delivering an overview of the technique/principals of carrying out a local anaesthetic transperineal biopsy.
Hands-on training with phantoms and ultrasounds.
